Drive4Relief

Drive4Reflief is a job creation effort (e.g. P3, Private Public Partnership) for those impacted by recent catastrophe.

The 8.5 million workers essential to the seamless movement of cargo across the U.S., have no reason to stay in an industry where their job is potentially on the chopping block due to “Autonomous Technology”. Currently, the trucking industry has no existing plan insuring a seamless transition to this driverless technology, predicated on the retention of this same workforce that is eagerly seeking alternative employment. We are actively involved in evaluations (alongside Members of Congress) on the impact self-driving trucks will have on the Americans who currently work as truck drivers and the communities where they live. That said there is an immediate need for truck drivers that we can work with your firm in filling.

Viewpoint

Aside from safety, and security concerns, with trucks moving nearly 70% of all U.S. inland freight according to the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the driver shortage will have a nationwide impact on consumer prices as labor costs rise. The rise in cost will impact jobs nationwide.

Background

Over the years we had been hosting meetings, workshops, and assessments sponsored by McDonalds Corporation at Hamburger University, with increasing involvement by universities, community colleges, local-state-federal government and other corporations leading to the creation of the non-profit chief executive officer (CEO) association Midwest Academic & Resilience Cloud Computing Consortium (MARC3) WWW.MARC3.ORG.

The MARC3 consortium grew out of the largest chief information officer (CIO)  association in the country comprised of over 200 Fortune 1000 CIO’s (e.g. Chicago Research and Planning Group-CRPG) that was created 06/1990, and ran till 09/2001 (911).  The inception of MARC3 focused on standing up major critical infrastructure security & assessment programs, and regional information sharing workshops for Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in addition to numerous projects focused on tying together collaborative interests & efforts of business, government and education directed at enhancing the resilience of all critical infrastructure relied on (e.g. transportation etc..).  Job Creation, and Economic Development are core to all MARC3 initiatives.

A two year project conducted by MARC3 to better align education with corporate hiring practices, uncovered a significant disconnect in the alignment of hiring needs of companies relative to drivers requiring a commercial driver license.

This is a National Concern, and we have been requested to help correct it!
